Mahjong for Beginners

Two-part series. $60

Curious about the game everyone is talking about? Join us at The Emerald Collective for this fun and welcoming two-part beginner series designed to teach you the fundamentals of Mahjong in a relaxed, social environment.

Over two 1.5-hour sessions, you'll learn the basic rules, how to read the card, build winning hands, and develop the confidence to play with others. Whether you've never touched a Mahjong tile or are looking for a refresher, this workshop is the perfect place to start.

No experience is necessary and all materials are provided. Come ready to learn, meet new people, and discover why Mahjong has become one of today's most popular social games! Attendees are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks (no alcohol permitted at our space). Cost includes a playing card to keep ($15 value)

Workshop Format: Two Days • 1.5 hours each. Optional Day 3: Open play

Day 1: Learning the tiles and how to read the Mahjong playing card plus making some practice hands

Day 2: How to set up a game and some practice walking through the different parts of play plus one game

Day 3, Optional open play day: Date TBD. Instructor will guide players on how to choose a hand to play based on tiles they’re dealt, and little intricacies of playing.

Many women spend years wondering why they suddenly feel exhausted, anxious, foggy, aren't sleeping well, or can't lose weight despite doing everything "right."

This talk will help women understand what changes are normal during perimenopause, which symptoms are commonly overlooked, when hormone therapy may be appropriate, and what evidence-based options exist to help them feel like themselves again. There will be plenty of time for questions at the end.

Wix 101: Build a Website for your Business, Brand, or Career

You don't have to be a web designer to create a website you're proud to share! Wix 101 is a beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop designed for small business owners, entrepreneurs, and anyone who wants to feel more confident creating or managing their own Wix website.

You don't need a business to need a website! A simple personal website can house your resume, portfolio, work samples and accomplishments — giving you one polished, professional link to share with potential employers and professional contacts.

During this two-hour workshop, we'll walk through the Wix platform together — from navigating the dashboard and choosing a template to editing pages, adding text and images, creating buttons and links, and making sure your site looks great on both desktop and mobile.

We'll also touch on basic SEO, how to purchase and connect a domain, website organization, and simple design tips that can make your site look more polished and professional.

No previous Wix or website-building experience is necessary.

Canva 101: Design with Confidence for Business, Work, & Beyond

You don't need to be a graphic designer to create beautiful, professional-looking marketing materials for your business. In Canva 101, you'll learn how to confidently use Canva to create designs for social media, flyers, promotions, presentations and other everyday business needs.

During this two-hour, hands-on workshop, we'll explore the Canva dashboard, templates, fonts, colors, images, elements and other tools that can make designing easier and faster. We'll also talk about simple design principles that can instantly make your materials look more polished and cohesive.

Whether you've never opened Canva or you've played around with it but know you're only scratching the surface, this workshop will help you understand the platform and use it with more confidence.

Bring your laptop and your ideas — no design experience required! You will receive an email before the class with "everything you need to know" and prepare/bring.

Felted Fall: Parent & Child workshop

COST: $45 per pair

Child must be age 8 and older

Celebrate the season with a cozy afternoon of creativity together! In this hands-on Parent & Me workshop, you and your child will learn the basics of needle felting while working together to create one whimsical felted pumpkin to take home and add to your fall décor.

Jenn Katts, instructor, will guide you through the process step by step as you learn how wool fibers are shaped, layered, and transformed into your finished pumpkin. No experience is necessary—this workshop is designed with beginners in mind, so you can simply come ready to learn, create, and have FUN!

This is a chance to slow down, spend time together, and leave with something you made as a team—and hopefully a sweet fall memory, too.

All supplies are included. Each registration is for one parent/adult and one child, who will create one felted pumpkin together.
